You'd be hard pressed to do this job for me, John. I was born in 1946 and there was no TV at all - until 1952. Here in N Ireland ITV in the form of UTV arrived as late as 1959. Then BBC2 arrived in 1962. Three channels it remained until CH4 finally arrived. Hard to believe this when it now takes me quite a while to look through all the listings for just one day!
No, TV was not better early on - just a novelty where we were simply amazed it happened at all. If you look closely there is much to enjoy for everyone and who wants to watch TV all day long?
