Watched the first episode of this new comedy. While quite funny in places (some great put-downs), I felt the delivery was distinctly 'hammy' - disappointing given the highly-respected actors involved. I couldn't help thinking I was watching a geriatric version of Julian and Sandy (from the radio show 'Round the Horne').
Having said this, I found enough decent humour in the first episode to dip back into this series.
I enjoyed this a lot. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments. And delicious to see Sir Ian and Sir Derek, plus the lovely Frances De La Tour, greatly enjoying themselves. I think it will probably improve once they're a bit more comfortable with it and tone it down just a little. (Loved Marcia Warren, too, who is brilliant in everything she does.)
