Actress Shirley Mitchell, best known as Lucy Ricardo's friend Marion Strong on "I Love Lucy," died November 11th at the age of 84. She's believed to be the last recurring adult cast member of "Lucy." Mitchell portrayed Strong on three "I Love Lucy" episodes, starting in 1953. (It was on one of those episodes, "Lucy Tells The Truth," that Lucy tells a laughing Marion to "stop cackling. I've been waiting ten years for you to lay that egg." Strong also appeared in a number of other TV series, including "Bachelor Father," "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" (as neighbor Marge Thornton), "The Beverly Hillbillies," and as henpecking wife Cara Appleby on "The Red Skelton Hour." Her film credits included 1944's "Jamboree," 1957's "The Desk Set" and the 1980's films "Big Business" and "The War of the Roses."
"Seeing a murder on television can help work off one's antagonisms. And if you haven't any antagonisms, the commercials will give you some."--Alfred Hitchcock
