Some 2-3 years ago there was a Monday to Friday one-off thriller entitled (number)Bickerstaffe Lane or similar. It concerned two families living in the same house some 80 years apart, whereby a slimy moneylender was murdered and his body bricked up, only to be discovered by the modern day family. Anyone recall it, when it was broadcast and who was in it?
Hi Roofbox2. This is an intriguing one! I've had a search but with no success so far. Can you recall anything else about it - any actors, any ideas which channel, (were there adverts?), or what kind of time of day it was broadcast? Was it UK or American?
Thanks for responding. No I just recall it was 5 episodes Monday to Friday some 3-4 years ago (2010 maybe). It concerned the lives of the 2 families 80 years apart in the same house. Modern day family were black. The Edwardians had money troubles and got involved with the moneylender - a real slimeball - who in the end offered to reduce the debts by having access to the guy's wife. At this he finally cracked and whacked him over the head with a spade. The family bricked him up in the attic and the body was discovered 80 years on as the modern-day family planned some alterations. It was something like Bickerstaff Lane or Street, being set oop north. BBC1 or 2 I would think.
Each episode started with the words "My name is Frank, and this is my family home: 32 Brinkburn Street. It's 1931, the year before I was born, when the world was a very different place. This is the story of my family, then and now."
