Actor Ned Wertimer, best-known to television audiences as the tip-grubbing doorman Ralph on "The Jeffersons," died January 2nd at a Los Angeles area nursing home. His manager tells the Associated Press the 89-year-old Wertimer suffered a fall at his Burbank, California home in November. Wertimer portrayed uniformed apartment complex employee Ralph the Doorman (no last name given to the character) during all 11 seasons of the long-running CBS sitcom. The New York native also appeared in dozens of other TV shows, ranging from "Gunsmoke" to "I Dream Of Jeannie," "Mork & Mindy" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." He also had roles in various films, including "Mame" and "At Long Last Love." His last movie role came with 2007's "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End."
