Saw this years ago can't remember what it was called it was on late at night in early 80's. The story is simple its pouring with rain a man goes into a shop and buys a news paper, the headline reads murderer strikes again. He goes outside and gets into his Porsche and drives off he comes to a red light and a old lady is stood at the lights he winds window and offers her a lift she gets in. The lights change and the car doesn't move change again car stays putt. Then the credits come on and that's it. It really stuck in my mind but I can't remember if it was from a series I can't see it been a one off. Not long enough for twilight zone or anything like that. It was in colour and was American. Told my kids about it loads of times but can't find out what it was called but I'm sure that someone on here will have seen it and remember what it's called thankyou.
Might it have been "Short & Curlies" shown on Channel 4 which were a series of dramas (mostly) that sometimes had a twist in the tail. I have a few episodes on VHS which I recorded as fillers to use up the end of tapes. The only one that sticks in my mind had a party on a yacht and featured Richard Gibson and Kim Hartman (Herr Flick & Helga from Allo Allo)
As I can remember it was made in the 70's. Deserted American city raining, he drove a Porsche 911. I can remember watching was It called Edgar lustgartner? Around the same time. Five minute theatre or late night theatre rings a bell but may be miles off.
Well i think this one has beaten me.I have tried every site that i can find but no luck in finding the shows name.I have narrowed the years down to between 1984 and 1989 as i can think.I have the twilight zone in my head but it was too short.I also think it may have just have been a filler so not listed on the schedule. It may have been part of a longer show made up of short stories?.I don't think it was a film can any of you guys give me any pointers its driving me mad!!!!!!
Sorry, bugboy3, I have been trying to locate this, but with no success. It sounds very intriguing!
Regarding Edgar Lustgarten, there's a list of his short films on IMDb, but they're each about 30 minutes long. www.imdb.com/name/nm0527310/ They're all in the '50s and '60s. Do you think that means your film might have been earlier than the '70s?
I used to watch Edgar lustgarten. it wasn't a Edgar wallace ? either. nor tale from scotland yard?. As i can remember it was on late one night 11.30ish. could have been on channel 4. it was in colour it wasn't part of a film it was just a 5 minute filler as i can think tales from the dark side. twilight zone spring to mind but not long enough to be a full episode.
