"Glass House." "Big Brother." What's the diff? None, according to CBS. Plenty, says ABC. "Glass House" is ABC's new competition reality series, which will feature various people living under one roof with cameras everywhere--not unlike "Big Brother" (which returns later this summer for American viewers on CBS). And not unlike BB, there will be plenty of spats, competitions and eliminations. But one difference is crystal clear: The ABC home is--surprise--made out of glass, so there's nowhere to hide (not even in the bathrooms?) CBS has taken ABC to court, noting that the "Glass House" is a "Big Brother" rip-off (and noted that some of "House's" producers once worked on BB). But CBS has lost a round: A federal judge won't decide whether both sides can look at internal memos and notes on the two shows until at least June 15th--three days before "Glass House's" premiere. CBS has threatened to file a restraining order to stop its competitor's show from airing on time. The late comic Fred Allen was right: Imitation is indeed the sincerest form of television.
"Seeing a murder on television can help work off one's antagonisms. And if you haven't any antagonisms, the commercials will give you some."--Alfred Hitchcock
